Music in the waters of Rio Negro
On August 27, 2016 we’ve launched Amazonia Live, our social environmental project that will plant more than three million trees in the Amazon rainforest. As you can imagine, we don’t know how to throw a small party, so we’ve made a show worthy of Rock in Rio, but this time, it was in the middle of the forest.
To draw the attention of the whole world to such an important situation, we had to be bold. That’s why the launching event was in the heart of the Amazon: we set up a floating stage in shape pf a leaf weighing more than two tons in the Rio Negro waters, in Manaus. With concerts by the tenor Plácido Domingo, Ivete Sangalo and Andreas Kisser, always accompanied by the Amazonas Philharmonic Orchestra, the event – closed to influencers and supporters of the project – had worldwide coverage on TV and internet. It took the voice of the Amazon to all corners of the globe.
From that moment on, it was possible to make a donation to Amazonia Live and help in the reforestation. Planting trees will benefit not only the forest, but also its inhabitants as well: besides helping to balance the climate and ecosystem, the local economy will also be strengthened with the collection of seeds and ltne abor force in soil preparation and planting.
